With such a strong focus on astrology nowadays, you probably know your sun sign and maybe even your moon and rising. But what about your cat’s zodiac sign? It can be fun to see if your cat’s sign and the corresponding personality traits align. Find out what astrology says about your cat and decide for yourself.
March 21-April 19: Aries
Cats born between March 21st and April 19th are fiery Aries. These kitties are Adventurous, with a capital A, so keep a close eye on all doors to make sure they don’t slip out. They’re always tackling some new venture, whether it’s chasing the red dot or trying to figure out where you hide the really tasty treats.
April 20-May 20: Taurus
A Taurus cat personality tends to be pretty hard-headed. They know exactly where they want to nap, and if you’re in the way, they will squeeze themselves in there through whatever means possible. Don’t be surprised if your Taurus kitty wakes you up at the crack of dawn for their breakfast. They’re grounded in routine and need to stay on a schedule, although it’s on their terms, not yours.
May 21-June 21: Gemini
If you have a cat who’s a Gemini, chances are they talk a lot, and we do mean a lot. But remember that cats communicate through more than just vocal sounds, so you might see your Gemini cat swishing their tail around, kneading, or rubbing up against you as a way of “talking.”
You can “talk” right back to your Gemini kitty and let them know you love them by using a slow blink. Try it!
June 22-July 22: Cancer
Does your cat sense when you’re having a bad day? Maybe they curl up in your lap as soon as you shed a tear? As a Cancer, your cat’s personality is highly sensitive and compassionate. But like the crab, which represents the Cancer zodiac sign, these cats can be a little crabby. Give them a bit of time to cool down, and they’ll be right back in your lap in no time.
July23-August 22: Leo
No matter how big your Leo cat is, they truly believe they’re a lion. They’re super loyal and will follow you from room to room to room — basically wherever you go. Even though they’re big cats at heart, these kitties can be kind of dramatic. Think full-body yowl if they get even just their paw wet.
If you’re naming a cat who has a Leo sign, the name of a king or queen would definitely suit them.
August 23-September 22: Virgo
Don’t even think about petting a Virgo cat’s hair in the wrong direction because they will have an absolute hissy fit about it. These cats need everything to be in order, or they can’t deal. And don’t even think about moving that empty cardboard box they turned into a bed.
Just like Virgo people, Virgo cats like to stay busy, so give yours plenty of enrichment games and toys to focus on.
September 23-October 22: Libra
Libra cats are all about balance. They’re the acrobatic cats doing a catwalk along the bookcase or scaling the top of the open door. Even though they can be a little daring at times, they also know how to be total lap cats. If you have several cats, Libras are the peacemakers and keep your household balanced.

October 23-November 21: Scorpio
A cat born between October 23rd and November 21st is a Scorpio kitty. They tend to be mysterious felines who are often just misunderstood. The sky’s the limit with these cats, so if a Scorpio wants to get to the top of the Christmas tree, they’ll do whatever they can to reach it (which is why cat-proofing techniques are so important!).
November 22-December 21: Sagittarius
Sagittarius cats are equal parts joy and fur. You could give them an old, crumpled-up receipt that you found in your pocket, and they would think it’s the best toy ever. These friendly cats are always up for a play session, so make sure you have plenty of games for these goofballs.
December 22-January 19: Capricorn
Cats born in Capricorn are incredibly focused. If they spot a bird out the window, they don’t let it out of their sight, no matter what's going on around them. Capricorn kitties tend to keep to themselves and are independent, but they do form very strong bonds with their owners.
January 20-February 18: Aquarius
Aquarius cats march to the beat of their own drum and tend to be a little out there. They might get random zoomies or play fetch with you like a dog would. Aquarius cats might not “cat” as much as the other signs, but they just like to do things their own way. And that’s perfectly OK.
February 19-March 20: Pisces
A cat born between February 19th and March 20th is the Pisces sign. Their personality is gentle, loving, and all-around chill. Because Pisces is a water sign, there’s a good chance these cats are attracted to the wet stuff. If you don’t already have a cat fountain at home, it could be a good idea to get one for your Pisces kitty.
Cat Astrology Isn’t Necessarily a Science
If you’re not 100% sure when your cat’s birthday is, go ahead and guesstimate. See which signs fall around the time you think they were born and then see which personality they’re more like. But remember that all cats are individuals, and similar to how all people who share a sign don’t have all the same personality traits, the same is true of cats. So embrace your cat for everything that makes them unique. They’re special regardless of their sign.
